3ic 3ac 3oe
A downloadable game
EQUIPMENT:
- A standard Rubik’s Cube.
- 2-4 players.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Scramble the cube such that there are no rows, columns, or diagonals of the same color on at least one of the sides. (Figure 1)
- Pick a side of the cube. This will be the “tic tac toe” board, aka your playing field.
- Each player may pick a color, and a turn order.
- It is recommended that if two people are playing, they pick colors that usually oppose each other in a solved cube (eg: yellow/white, blue/green, red/orange).
- A standard turn order would be youngest to oldest, for example.
- Players will take turns:
- They may do one 90 degree turn of one layer on the cube on any side. Turning the middle layer of the cube is allowed as a single move as well.
- i. Layers of the cube are defined as a 1-cube plane of the cube.
- Once one person enacts the turn, the next player may not undo that move immediately in the next turn by turning it the opposite way.
- A person wins when they manage to get a row/column/diagonal of their own color on the playing field. (Figure 2)
- They may do one 90 degree turn of one layer on the cube on any side. Turning the middle layer of the cube is allowed as a single move as well.
ALTERNATIVE RULES:
- Level Playing Ground: Start with a solved side, with the other sides scrambled. The picked color cannot be the original color of the board, nor the opposite color.
- Sic Sac Soe: All sides count as your playing field. (good luck)
